Shortcuts involving the Alt key are not working in pycharm.
For example the shortcut for "finding usages" on my machine is Alt+F7, but whenever I press this key, my cursor changes from an arrow to a hand (the icon it changes to when you move a window).
I am using Ubuntu 16.04.
You can use CompizConfig Settings Manager to change the key used to show the Unity HUD.
To open terminal hit Alt+Ctrl+T and run following command:
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
Or search for 'compizconfig-settings-manager' and install it from there.
Once installed, Hit Super key (Windows key) to open Unity dash and search for "ccsm" and open it.
In CompizConfig Settings Manager Navigate to Desktop > Ubuntu Unity Plugin
Under the Behavior tab click on little cross in front of "Key to show the HUD", This will set the key to default (Alt)
I find that is easy to remap the GNOME shortcut to achieve the same thing, but mapping 3 keys is unsupported of you use the space key, it appears, so there are two options that I know:
The first is remapping the close window command; currently in “Ctrl + Q” or “Alt + F4” to “ Alt + C”. You can do this by going to Settings -> Devices -> Keyboard and then scrolling to the Close window command, then remapping the command, then again, you can only type two keys. Do the same to maximize window, to “Alt + X”

The solution that worked for me is described in this Ask Ubuntu answer.
In short: if you've already got used to combinations like Alt+F7, you can disable/change default Ubuntu shortcuts which are overlapping with default shortcuts used in PyCharm.
