Ubuntu – Abiword starts automatically each restart

Abiword starts automatically each restart, on any user. Already checked out Startup Applications. Remember session is turned off.

Additional info, may be it'll give a clue – I configured VNC server on this machine to run, so sometimes, in additional to regular Ubuntu/Unity sessions I start XFCE4 session. I think this behavior started after VNC4 configuration, but ~/.vnc/xstartup does not contain abiword – just regular xfce startup stuff.

What are additional places where I can look?

This is a bug in AbiWord associated with upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04. Resolved by removing AbiCollab.service as follows:

sudo rm -f /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Client.AbiCollab.service

Go to System>Preferences>Startup apps, then on the Options tab uncheck the "Automatically remember...." checkbox.

MySQL is handled by upstart. In 11.04 you can use the new override feature to modify the starting behaviour:

echo "manual" >> /etc/init/mysql.override

Apache still uses traditional SysV init scripts so you use

 update-rc.d -f apache2 remove

to remove the links from /etc/rcX.d or, alternatively, use

 update-rc.d apache2 disable

which "disables" the script by changing it from a start script S91apache2 to a stop script K09apache2. This is reversible by update-rc.d apache2 enable.
