Is it possible to copy text from a Word document containing field codes, so that when pasted into another application, the FIELD CODES REMAIN AS RAW TEXT, i.e. something like
This is about whales { XE "Cetations:Whales" }. This is about dolphins { XE "Cetations:Dolphins" }.
rather than have the field codes stripped out?
I found the control in Word 2007 in the Advanced section of the options dialog under 'Show Document Content':
This MAY work: On the File tab/menu, select Recent. In the lower right half is the button "Recover Unsaved Documents". Click and see if you can still recover it. This may work even after you have rebooted your computer.
You can also check the Info option on the File tab/menu - try the Manage Versions button.
FYI, every application potentially will hold the data on behalf of the clipboard. Word gives you the option of physically placing it on the clipboard when you exit Word - and that's where you should have said Yes instead of No.

Press Alt+F9 to show the field code, then highlight all the text inside the curly braces
