I would like to know how to play media (audio and video) files that are located in a folder and its subfolders using Windows.
I don't want to create a music libraries first. I simply want to click on a media file, have a player start playing it and continue with the next files in that folder and subfolders.
Is there any solution?

On the parent folder containing all files you want to take full control of, do the following:
- Right Click on the Folder
- Select Properties
- Navigate to Security tab
- Press the Advanced button
- Press the Change Permissions.. button
- Give your username full control
- Make sure Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object is selected
- Click Ok, Ok, and then Ok again to acknowledge.
If the username is different between the two systems, you might also need to take ownership of the files first before the permissions will propagate.
This feature is available in the latest VLC player. Please the image below where right clicking the vlc media player asks to add it in player list. vlc version for the image 2.1.5

If you use VLC-MediaPlayer you can simply right click on the folder where the media files are and select "Play with VLC" or something like this. This action selects all media files within the folder and its subfolders.
If you use Windows Media-Player it is the same: right click on folder > select "Play with Windows Media Player".
