I zipped some folders using winzip on my old laptop and copied to an external drive. The folders contain all types of files including xls, doc, ppt, etc. Now I am trying to open the zipped folders in the external drive on my new laptop. All the zipped folders show as zip.xml files. How to open/extract them? I have tried renaming the files to zip files, and extracting with 7zip, but it does not work. Thank you!

What you need is exactly Bandizip by Bandisoft.
In Bandizip's settings, select the Context Menu heading. Then, under Extraction Menu, enable Extract Automatically.
If you like, you can even enable the Extract Automatically functionality as the default double-click action by selecting Extract Automatically in the Double-click Action section of that same settings page.
When you use Bandizip's Extract Automatically functionality, it will create a subfolder only when one is needed. If the zip file only contains a single file or subfolder, it will not create a subfolder. If the zip file contains a bunch of files, it will automatically create a new subfolder for you.

Extracted folders have the created/modified date set to the time/date of extraction

Now when files are extracted their creating date, edited date are set to current time despite in archive they could have their own dates, an option to preserve those would be very nice.

The hard part is already done. If you just right-click and under 7-zip, extract here/to, it should perform as expected.
After testing it appears that the above comment is incorrect and doesn't work.

Open your external drive and you will see one folder named "SEERemovableStorageAcessUtility.exe" . Double click on the same folder. A new window will open and you can see the folder you want to download to your new PC. Right click on the same and you get an option to decrypt the same as your desired location. It will ask for the password which will be the password given at the time of encrypting the file.
