I'm moving back from Mac to Windows and I want to take all of my photos with me. I'm specifically concerned about keeping event names, I don't so much care about Faces or Places.
Is there anything I can use to export everything out of iPhoto, while keeping Event information, that will be understood when adding/importing to Windows Live Photo Gallery?
Sometimes the answer is "no". As in this case, you cannot migrate and keep faces and places. You would be lucky not to lose your events, but Picasa and iPhoto use a different system for that.
Bottom line (even though it's not good news): be prepared to make lots of manual corrections and re-enter data if you want to migrate. Don't ditch iPhoto until you are happy with Picasa, or youll end up with 2 half solutions.

Go to
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\AutoPlay
For the entry for Pictures, select "Import pictures and videos using Windows".
Now, insert your USB drive (with pictures only on it), and you will see the following:
Click "Import settings", and you will see:
Change the settings as you see fit, and click OK.
