I use to print full page pictures a lot.
Every time the Windows Print Pictures form appears, I need to uncheck the "Fit picture to frame" all the time, and it's getting ennoying.
Is there a hack in the registry or something like that to uncheck this by default ?
If the letter size is 8.5 x 11 inches and you want to print at 600 dpi then you need an image of 8.5 * 600 by 11 * 600 pixels to avoid any scaling one way or the other.
Or more simply put 5,100 x 6,600 pixels.
The issue would be if you scanned an 8.5 x 11 inch image at 300 dpi. Then it would be converted into an image of 2,550 x 3,300 pixels - which is half the size you need. Then the image will be scaled when printed at 600 dpi to come out at the same size as the original. Either you need to scan at 600 dpi or print at 300 dpi.
The added complication (which is why you might be seeing "best fit" or "stretch") is that the printer might not be able to print right up to the edge of the paper. This would mean that your actual paper size is slightly smaller than you expect.
Microsoft moved the cheese! I kicked myself when I found out how to do this oh-so-simple task. I had expected to be able to do this from the Metro-style "Photos" app ... but no!
In Windows Explorer, select the images to print then right click one and select print from context menu.
Open the folder containing the photos you want to print in Windows Explorer, then select the few you want using the normal methods:

As no suitable answer was given, except for a comment by @Shoeless recommending using AutoHotKey to survey eternally all dialog windows for this one and uncheck the option (not recommended for such a small problem), I detail below my own unsuccessful efforts.
The Photo Gallery is contained in the executable WLXPhotoGallery.exe. I used Resource Hacker to view its resources, but did not find this dialog or window as a resource. The conclusion is that it's generated by the program at runtime, so cannot be modified except by hacking the program's code.
I used Process Monitor to capture all registry activity of the program, but have not identified any easily identified related setting. So it does not look as if this option is controlled by a registry item.
The conclusion is that there is no way to uncheck that checkbox programmatically, except by using a big canon such as AutoHotKey.
If using AutoHotKey is not an option, you will need to use another viewer.
