I know about using Alt+Enter to add carriage returns to a cell, and they display fine at the top editing panel, but not within the cell itself.
If I turn on wrapping, it shows as multi line, but each line in the multi-line doesn't 'bleed' into the next column.
However, if I turn wrapping off, it stupidly becomes a single line of text. I want the best of both worlds, for it to display as multiline AND for the text to bleed over into the next column.
Is there a way to fix this?
Just press F2 on the cell. That will put you in edit mode in which it is possible to use the arrow keys. If you want to enter newlines in the cell yourself, you have to do that with alt + enter.
How your text gets copied in to Word depends on the formatting option chosen. In Word 2010, the default format option is HTML Format. There are four main options for how to copy text into Word. (Formatted Text (RTF), Unformatted Text, HTML Format, & Unformatted Unicode Text)
Pasting in with formatted text creates mini tables in Word. (The blue outlines.)
To get unformatted text in Word without the double quotes:
Alt + E, S)This also works to paste the results without quotes into another editor. Simply alter step 3 to paste into the other editor.
It would probably be faster however, to simply paste as normal and then use Replace to find and remove all double quotes.

NO, there is no way to fix that.
You play around with merging cells and text wrapping together, however it'll never be an optimal solution.
Please keep in mind that Excel is a spreadsheet application designed to manage tabular data; and it is not a document editor.
