Is there a way to create a shortcut that lives in C:\
(as opposed to my desktop), and points to a folder also in C:\
?
(I'm not sure whether the tool shortcut.exe
can do this at all, but in any case, I can't find any versions of it for Windows 7.)

C:\
has some access restrictions for security reasons by default, but you can always create a shortcut on the desktop and then cut-paste it intoC:\
. Keep in mind that you may have to adjust shortcut's access privileges using Properties window, Security tab.
