Windows – How to build installer of some files

I have some files on my laptop and I need to build either an exe or msi installer.

My intention is that when running that installer, it must place one file on to the C: disk and another file to the desktop.

How can I do this?

Well there are plethora of Package and Deploy installer platforms available. The simplest for your kind of use would be lzPAck. Its free and open source.

Usually msi packages are provided for system administrators who would have the need to deploy the software to several terminals over a network.

The results are no different from using an executable, but msi packages sometimes do have additional options such as doing silent or pre-configured installs.

If you are not a system administrator, use the executable.

You can try to add ADDLOCAL to the command line:

p4inst64.exe /s /v"/QN /L*V "C:\test.log" ADDLOCAL="FeatureName""

I haven't tested this, but it should work ok, barring any issues with the quotes inside the parent quotes.

/L*V "C:\Test.log"= verbose logging
/QN = run completely silently
ADDLOCAL="FeatureName" = Install this feature locally
