Windows – Excel 2013 wont let me save XLSX files

So, just recently when I tried to save an excel (.xlsx) file in Excel 2013, I got the following error message:

I have not changed my file block settings in the trust center however. Here is a screenshot of my settings in the trust center.

As you can see, I do not have any file types set to be blocked from opening or saving! I have never encountered this issue before in Excel, and was wondering if anyone knows how to resolve this issue? I am an administrator on the computer I am having this issue on, I own MS Office 2013 Professional and my copy is registered, and I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I am not on a windows domain. Please help! Let me know if you need any further details

Duh, so I guess if something is checked in file block settings, that means to block it. Uncheck the item to unblock it. Problem resolved.

First of all, there are certain XSD data type attributes that are not supported by Excel. You can see a full list here.

To get Excel to associate your XSD properly with its corresponding XML looks like you'll have to create an XML map and then painstakingly map all the XML elements, as detailed here.

Honestly, I'd advise you to use a proper XML editor and save yourself the headache. :)

There is no way to turn that on, but there are ways to get it to do it automatically. Enable the developer ribbon if you haven't already (if you have full Excel) and in that ribbon click "Visual Basic"

You want to stick ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll somewhere. Maybe by editing 'ThisWorkbook' and adding the following code:

Private Sub Workbook_SheetActivate(ByVal Sh As Object)
    ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll
End Sub

so that it happens every time you switch tabs?

Or maybe by editing the master sheet's VBA code and adding ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll somewhere in there, like in the Worksheet's Worksheet_Activate or Worksheet_SelectionChange events?

Once you get that working you could also try going to https://stackoverflow.com/questions/211715/how-to-make-a-macro-which-executes-periodically-in-excel to have it periodically update every n seconds instead.
