Windows – Do live tiles continue to update when I’m not looking at the start screen

1. Open the Clock, Language, and Region section from the Control Panel:

   

2. Open the Language panel:

   

3. Here we can see the issue:

   

   To resolve your language conflict, add a new language

4. Open the English language catalogue:

   

5. Pick whatever English language you prefer and Add it:

   

6. Open the Options for your newly added language and add a new input method:

   
   

7. Pick the Slovenian keyboard layout, add it and save your setup:

   

8. You can now Move up your new configuration and Remove the old one.

   

   Your date, number and time formats should still be set to Slovenian:

   

9. Restart Windows.

10. Success

    

Because the amount of traffic caused by live tile updates differs from app to app, just check the numbers in the task manager:

In my personal experience, the traffic caused by live tiles is negligible. If you're using apps that show images in their live tiles and those images change frequently, those tiles might cause a significant amount of traffic. You can keep an eye on the traffic caused by live tile updates in the task manager and disable apps that download too much content. Just right click on the app and select Turn live tile off:

Whether you need to disable the live tiles for an app totally depends on your traffic plan and the advantage you gain from the tiles. For example, you certainly want to disable an app that wastes 100 MB of your traffic budget per month just for live tiles.
