Just went from XP to 7 and set my taskbar to show window titles. Problem is that explorer windows display the full path now, like "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\stuff" instead of just "stuff". I end up with a bunch of things in the taskbar that just say "C:\Users\Administrat…" which makes it hard to find windows. How do I change this?

- Open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties (Right-click somewhere empty on the taskbar and choose Properties)
- In the Taskbar Tab, set the Taskbar buttons to: Always combine, hide labels
- Click OK
Now when you press WIN + n or mouse over it will show all open windows of that application with their names at the top.
With all Windows Explorer windows closed, hold down Shift and right-click the Windows Explorer icon that is pinned to the Taskbar. Select Properties from the menu.
On the Shortcut tab, the Target: field is probably:
%windir%\explorer.exe
Add a space and the path to the folder you want to be your default. I changed my target to
%windir%\explorer.exe "C:\Users\william\"
Quotation marks around the folder path are only necessary if the path contains a space.
