I have upgraded to Windows 10 on a PC at home. But now whenever I RDP to it, and press Disconnect, instead it logs off. So when I connect again it logs in again, and all of the applications that I had open are closed.
I have already checked the settings in the Registry, and the timeout is Never.
In Windows 7, this didn't happen, and I could disconnect and remain logged in.
Can anyone help please?
The screen is locked and it will show who is logged in remotely, as well as the hostname of the remote computer. When you log off it remains at the logon screen. More than one person cannot be logged in simultaneously.
I can't test this since I only have 2 PCs, and they're not at the same location.
You can, use VNC.

gpedit.mscHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal ServicesMaxDisconnectionTime is set for the amount of time you want to set as the time limit in milliseconds (12 hours = 43200000).
If it does not exist, create it as New DWORD (32-bit). (more info.)If this doesn't work and your server is in a domain, have the IT people check in your OU the setting of "Terminate disconnected session".

I have tried closing RDP on Windows 10 virtual machine, and I cannot duplicate your problem.
Perhaps the difference is that I have applied this registry fix because I was getting the message of "the connection cannot proceed because authentication is not enabled" :
