Windows 10 – Powershell console, cannot vertically scroll

For some reason I don't get any vertical scrollbars in powershell, and I cannot scroll up to see any commands or output after they've gone out of view.

I can't see the output from my commands if it doesn't all fit on the screen at once.

Does anyone know what I might need to do to fix this?

I can't see any settings in powershell properties to enable or disable vertical scrolling.

If I normalise the window size, it shows the scrollbars, but will only allow scrolling the equivalent maximised size.

I found the solution. I had to increase the Height in "Screen Buffer Size" under "Layout" tab in properties.

Open an elevated Powershell ("Right-click" and "Run As Administrator"). Left click on the icon in the left hand side of the title bar (or press Alt+Space), select Properties, then on the Font tab you can select the size. "8 x 12" is probably what you want.

You probably want to select "Lucida Console" as your font as Consolas is a little difficult to read imo.

You MUST ensure you are running PowerShell elevated (as Administrator) if you want your configuration to persist permanently.

There shouldn't be any difference between the output those two commands.

It's hard to say exactly what the issue is, but one thing you can try is using a pager to manually scroll through the contents of a file:

less package.json
