Windows – Run programs twice in startup directory

I run the autoruns to see the following one.

The thing is that the user's startup files are registered twice. I'm not sure, but this might be the cause of the AHK problem that I posted, if the programs actually run twice if they are in startup directory.

What do you think? Is this a bug of autoruns program? Or, actually, Do the programs run twice?

With msconfig, I found that the runme.exe(the ahk script binary) is run twice. The weird thing is that when I deleted one of them, the runme.exe is removed from the startup directory.

Autoruns always does that: shows two entries that are linked to each other. I think it has something to do with the fact that there are two Startup locations:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup vs

C:\Documents and Settings\<your-name>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Most programs have a feature (or option) of "don't start a second instance". Check if AHK has it.

Or my preferred way is to move most startups to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

(you know how to create a reg entry, right?) That doesn't have a "double startup" problem

To make it stop giving you the message, add the following near the top of the script before you compile it:

#SingleInstance force

That will cause the newer version to replace the older version of the script.

Please note: this does not address the fact that you seem to have the script executing twice during your boot process.

Windows 7 – How to Control Startup Program Sequence

You can do it using Windows Task Scheduler:

Create a task with boot initialization trigger for each application that you want(the task will start the program/service that you want) and add a specific delay(such as 20s, 25s, 30s...) timer on initialization for each one.

Here you can see an example about creating a task on task scheduler.

In order to adjust the order of programs in the registry, you will need to remove them from this registry path (deleting the entries) and replace the registry start for the scheduler start method.
