Outlook 2013 Unread Inbox 1

I have tried 3 workarounds to get rid of the Inbox saying 1 is still unread and it will not leave. I have right clicked to mark all as read. 2. I have typed read:no for the inbox mailbox AND All Mailboxes. 3. I went to Properties of my Inbox and Clear'd offline Items, closed Outlook and re-opened but it still says 1 unread in my Inbox. 🙁 Any other ideas?

In the search field, type 'read:no'
Then change the selection to 'All Outlook Items'
Then click on 'Find more on the server'

There will be an actual unread e-mail which will appear. Simply read it and the problem is solved; it worked for me.

try running outlook with one of the following commands

/resetnavpane
/cleanviews
/cleanrules (this will delete all rules of all mailboxes - attention!)

if that doesn't help

try opening Outlook in safe mode to disable 3rd party add-ins
Turning cached mode on/off
create a new profile

The new profile will set outlook back to default settings.

if that doesn't help, deinstall the latest windows updates.

Outlook – Undo “Mark All As Read” in Outlook

If you have another machine that regularly syncs to the same inbox, get that machine offline before opening Outlook. Then, open Outlook and do a quick search for unread messages in the Inbox folder. Mark those with a specific color Category (that you don't otherwise use) and then go back online and sync.

Then, sync with the new machine, search the Inbox for messages in that category, mark those as unread, and remove the category designation. Re-sync and you'll be good.

However, if you don't have another machine which recently synced to the server, you'll be out of luck. You'll also lose recent changes in what was marked read/unread, including the applicability to recent messages.
