Is there a way of converting a diagram in Powerpoint 2016 to Visio 2016?
I have drawn a big complex diagram in Powerpoint and feel now that it would be better to continue working on it in Visio. However I seem to only be able to paste the diagram as an image into Visio 🙁
Unfortunately, I only have Visio 2010 and Word 2010, but I hope some of this translates to Word 2013 decently.
First off, instead of copying and pasting the Visio diagram from Visio into Word, have you tried dragging and dropping the Visio diagram file itself into the Word document?
Next, I would try to embed the existing Visio diagram into your document. Insert > Object > Create from File > Browse to file > Check "Link to File" > "OK"
If you're looking to make the file such that your co-workers can edit within Word when Visio is installed, you may need to create a new Visio embedded object within Word. Try going to Insert > Object > Create New > Microsoft Visio Drawing > "OK". Then you will need to copy and paste your existing Visio diagrams into the newly created embedded object.
Hopefully one of these will get the functionality you're looking for.
This appears to be a "feature" of the default paste options in PowerPoint 2010. If I simply do a ctrl-c ctrl-v from Visio to PowerPoint then I get the behaviour you are seeing
If, on the other hand, I right click and use the paste image button it behaves as you want it to. The inserted graphic is vector format and resizing is results in absolutely no pixelation. I've shown the button to press below.
If you want to paste as this kind of image then ctrl-v doesn't seem to cut it. Instead the simplest way I can find it to tap Alt (to bring up the ribbon hotkey system) and then h, v, and then u to just paste it as a picture object (or s for special). This will insert it as you expect. It's a bit longer than ctrl-v, but keeps you on the keyboard rather than using the mouse.

You may try after having copied and pasted into Visio, where your diagram appears as an image to ungroup. This works fine with MS 365 and does not require any additional application.
