PC 1 is the host computer and PC2 is the virtual computer.

My understanding about "host-only":

I use VMware 7, Vmnet1 is the host-only adapter for host and it's IP is 192.168.209.1. I'm really confused about this, does it connect to the Vmnet 1 switch and Vmnet has DHCP also?

Why does the virtual host adapter (Vmnet 1) have an IP which isn't in the range while it's just an adapter in the virtual network? It connects through the Vmnet switch like the guest adapter.

Your diagram is NAT, not host-only. Host-only does not create a host gateway to the internet.

In your example the host vNIC is probably statically addressed, not DHCP.

I think the solution to do what you want is to just switch to the NAT vmnet.

You will need to create a second bridged virtual network adapter pointing to the second card and add it to the Virtual Machine. However you may need to give this a static IP if it is on Crossover since there will not be a DHCP server available from your current configuration.

In both VirtualBox and VMWare Workstation, host only network connects the host and guests with a virtual switch and they can ping each other directly. So OP issue cannot be reproduced.

If a separate network is used instead, guests can still ping each other with routing by the host. Here's how.

Enable IP Routing of Windows Host

Method 1: IPEnableRouter

reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters /v IPEnableRouter /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
::Reboot for it to take effect.

Method 2: RRAS

sc config RemoteAccess start= auto
sc start RemoteAccess
::Reboot is not needed.

Confirm IP Routing is on by ipconfig /all | find "Routing".
You should see IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes.
Set default gateways of guests to their respective host adapter.
Now guests can ping each other through the host (with ICMP echo request/reply allowed in firewall, of course).
