Multiline select in Notepad++

In Sublime Text, if I perform a find for an occurrence of a particular word, not only is this occurrence found, but it is also selected and has the cursor at the end of each occurrence so that pushing the right arrow key the cursor will move the cursor to the beginning of each occurrence simultaneously so that I can perform whatever operation I wish on all the selections. Does Notepad++ have something similar to this feature?

I know that I can multi-line select by Ctrl + mouse click, but is there an automated way of doing this in Notepad++?

The feature you're describing is essentially a pretty version of "replace all", which Notepad++ and any decent text editor will have. I'm not aware of Notepad++ having the feature exactly as you describe it, so I'd just do a "Replace All". (btw, I'm using N++ version 5.8.7)

Sort of a hack (sends a window message directly to the Scintilla edit control on startup), but works great:

Install NppExec plugin
Go to Plugins -> NppExec -> Execute

Enter the following code:

// ensure console stays hidden
NPP_CONSOLE 0

// enable virtual spaces (cursor past end of line) outside column edit mode
SCI_SENDMSG 2596 3 0

// SCI_SENDMSG == send message to Scintilla edit control

Click the Save button at the bottom, and give the script a name
Now go to Plugins -> NppExec -> Advanced Options
On the right, under "Execute this script when Notepad++ starts", select the script name you just saved
Click OK, close/reopen Notepad++, and enjoy ;)

If a stream area is selected, it is possible to add another, disjoint area by Ctrl-clicking its start point and moving the mouse to the end point. More than one extra selection can be added this way. (Multi-Editing should be enabled in Preferences)

tl;dr - Settings -> Preferences -> Editing -> Multi-Editing Settings -> Enable, then Ctrl-Click for each section
