How can I access Microsoft Office Communicator chat history?
It looks like the only built-in way to do this is to use Microsoft Exchange server — is there any other way to do this?

Ending up purchasing WindowTabs. It is working quite well. =)
In Communicator's Tools->Options menu, on the "General" tab, there is a checkbox called "Show emoticons in instant messages".
Deselecting this will cause emoticons to not appear in your Communicator. Of course you will still need your colleagues to do the same, if they don't want code "corrupted" in their instances of Communicator.

There doesnt seem to be any way to save a log on the client other than manually saving each conversation.
