The mouse acceleration on Mac OS X is driving me nuts. It may work for touchpads but nothing beats the Windows' acceleration curves. Is there a way to modify the behaviour on OS X? I tried getting a Microsoft mouse driver for OS X but it didn't work since my mouse is not from Microsoft.

You can change the number of lines to be scrolled per notch on the wheel:
(3 lines is default setting, 100 is the maximum)
Here's a little shareware utility ($10) that might be worth looking at:
ScrollNavigator also adds dynamic acceleration to your mouse wheel. This indispensable feature makes mouse wheel scrolling more accurate when you turn the wheel slowly, and it scrolls your documents much faster when you turn the wheel quickly.
AutoHotkey could be used to automate the encapsulating the whole process you need to undertake in a single hotkey that will go and toggle the checkbox for you, unless someone writes special software for you this would be the only way to accomplish that task.
Either automate it through a script or get rid of the acceleration... ;-)
