I use the standalone Slack client for macOS. When I switch or join a wi-fi network, I often get this message:
It doesn't go away, even after my connection is working. I haven't found a way to tell the client to try reconnecting, other than quitting and restarting.
Is there a better way to tell Slack to attempt to reconnect?

I mostly use this to keep track of when some colleagues halfway around the world start logging in and when contractors/hourly people are available, so I can start sending them tickets/issues.

In order to make slack dark you can do the following for OSX (as of today 7/30/2018).
1) open the following configuration file in a text editor such as sublime:
/Applications/Slack.app/Contents/Resources/app.asar.unpacked/src/static/ssb-interop.js
2) Add the following code at the end:

3) Re-open slack.
When I did this, I saw that the message backgrounds were black but the sidebar was a purple color I didn't really like. To fix that aspect of it I went into the slack Preferences option when clicking on the little down caret on the top left of the app then going into Sidebar option and scrolling down to themes and clicking Ochin or Work Hard...

You can actually force the client to refresh now with
command + R(ctrl + Rfor Windows). This will force the entire client to refresh and reconnect if you're having connection issues, provided that it's not on your end. You should also now see an option to see a status page for Slack if your connection is down to verify that it's you or them.
