Let me start off by telling you what I am doing and what result I am getting. So I have a role defined as members, they are not allowed to view the contents of the admin channel.
So I go to channel settings> permissions>member role and uncheck the read messages option. Doing so makes the channel dissapear for the member.
What I want is the user should be able to see that there is channel but not able to click on it as shown in the image.
How can I achieve this?
This icon only appears when activity is detected within servers you do not have muted. If you routinely get annoyed by this icon from a specific server you don't particularly care for, you can right click the server's icon, hover over "Mute Server," and choose a duration to mute the server for. "Until I turn it off again" keeps it muted permanently.
For a more global solution, there's a setting in the Discord app itself called "Enable Unread Message Badge" located within the User Settings > App Settings > Notifications directory.

Toggling this off should ensure you never see that dreaded red circle on your task bar again.
Integrating GitHub updates into a Discord channel can be done with webhook updates.
Via Discord - Intro to Webhooks
- Get the webhook URL for the server/channel you want to receive messages:
- Open the webhook settings in your GitHub repository settings (Settings > Webhooks)
Click the "Add webhook" button, and enter the Discord-generated URL in the "Payload URL" section.
To ensure the webhook displays messages properly, make sure to append '/github' at the end of your URL.
For content type, stick with application/json, then customize which kind of events trigger webhook messages.
- Click the last "Add webhook" button beneath the event notifications customization option, and you're all set!

This is not able to be done with text channels, but it is able to be done for voice channels.
By disallowing the
Connectpermission for the role of your choice (either at theCategorypermission level or theChannelpermission level,) members of your server with the aforementioned role will be able to see the voice channel, but not be able to click it (or connect to it). Disallowing theView Channelpermission will remove its visibility entirely.Beware: Members with the
Move Memberspermission will ignore the disallowedConnectpermission. Members with this permission may also move other users into any channel they can see, regardless of whether that user or the user they're moving has theConnectpermission for that voice channel or not.Here's a screenshot of the permission you're looking for:
Doing something similar for a text channel is not currently possible. Disallowing the
Read Message Historypermission will still permit users to see messages in the related channel, however only while the channel is focused by them (the history is cleared each time the channel is no longer focused). Disallowing theView Channelpermission simply hides the text channel entirely.
