The top menu bar disappeared off of all of my applications in Linux Mint 14 XFCE. You can still see the menu item, like "File", "Edit", etc. However, the outline around the window is gone and the is no X to close windows. You can drag, but you can't minimize or maximize. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

X isn't running or just Xfce?
If there is a live X session, try this:
export DISPLAY=:0.0
And then:
xrandr -s 0
This will reset it to default resolution. Also, you can chose your own resolution:
xrandr -s 800x600
You just need to drag it over the application menu, though you're right - it seems like any of the ways you mentioned should do it. (And agreed, none of them do for me either).
