ITerm (mac command-line) asks annoying questions before quit

Running OS X 10.6 snow leopard. I like to open iTerm for a quick editing of files. And then quit it so I do not have to see it in the dock.
This is what has happened: I upgraded iTerm to the most recent version.
When I now turn it off this happens. A dialog box comes up.

Quit iTerm2? All sessions will be closed. *Cancel *ok.

(Surely this is from preventing me accidentally quitting an ongoing process). The preferences in iTerm plus searching with Google gives me nothing, so I'm stuck.

There's a preference for that. See focused checkbox:

It's connected to the "Warn me" directly above it, as in, if there are active sessions, it'll be displayed anyway if "Warn me" is checked, but "Confirm" isn't. Uncheck both to never get bothered.

Check you home dir in iTerm.

$ cd ~
$ ls -la | grep .bash_history

If the above command found the file you can do the following command

$ cat .bash_history

This will show your history. Not in the exact same format as 'history' but it will do I think. Or you can search within your history with the shortcut CTRL + r. It will show something as (reverse-i-search). Type your command you did earlier and it will return a result.

Note: Some terminals have a different shell. For instance zsh. If that's the case you need to search .zsh_history

Mac Terminal/iTerm history cursor problems

It is most likely because your prompt definition includes sequences that should not be counted in the length of the prompt, such as those for setting colors. These sequences should be between \[ and \] to prevent their length from being counted. Here is an example that produces an all-red prompt:

PS1='\[\033[31m\]\u@\h:\w\$\[\033[0m\]'
