Convert JPG to Vector Format – Best Software Options

I always say

Raster records the pixels in the picture.

Vector records the steps it took to draw the picture.

So if you enlarge Raster you get a big picture with big pixels. If you enlarge Vector the computer follows the steps to redraw at higher resolution.

If you have a chance to demo it for them, load up Word and put in 1 small (raster) image and 1 clip art. Then drag the corners to show what happens. You could even print out the before/after and hang it on your cube so you have something to point to.

I think there's also an open source solution for this, besides Adobe software: Inkscape

I've had the same problem a couple of years ago with a dozen of logos, and were able to solve it with Inkscape this way:

1. Open the bitmap image.
2. Left click on it to select it.
3. Path / Trace Bitmap
4. Now you have to start experimenting with the possible settings, and refreshing the preview on the right side of the dialog. 5. Save as SVG.
