Internet Explorer – How to Use Proxy Server for HTTP and HTTPS but Not FTP

I know how to set the proxy settings in Internet Explorer/Windows Internet Options via Connections > Lan Settings.

What I am not sure about is how to set it so HTTP and HTTPS use a proxy but I don't want FTP to use a proxy. Is this possible? If I leave the IP and Port empty for FTP will it not use a proxy or give an error?

Click the Advanced button in Local Area Network (LAN) Settings and then uncheck the "Use the same proxy server for all protocols" checkbox.

You can then set up which protocols use which proxy.

Probably the network proxy/firewall doesn't allow outbound connections to 22/tcp. You'd need to run the service on a port that's allowed (outbound) by your proxy/firewall, such as 443/tcp.

An alternative would be to install a "management" tool to access a shell a la "webmin" (doxfer.webmin.com/Webmin/CommandShell).

HTTP/HTTPS Proxy and FFmpeg

As per the source,

if (!strcmp(proto, "https")) {
    lower_proto = "tls";
    use_proxy   = 0;

so the ffmpeg command line option won't work.

However, the secure transport does appear to allow proxy use if you supply the path using an environment variable.

proxy_path = getenv("http_proxy");
...

if (use_proxy) {
    char proxy_host[200]...

I'll see if the CLI option can be added.
