Windows – How to Measure Bandwidth Usage of a Specific Application

Ideally, I'd like to hear of an application to show how much bandwidth each application is consuming on my local Windows PC. Alternatively, instructions to use any other application for this purpose. The simpler the better. Something that works for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 (if possible).

I know this isn't a general approach to limiting the amount of RAM available to the applications, but here is a nice guide to limiting the amount of RAM available to firefox.

I'm not sure if there is a general approach to limiting memory usage for single applications (except for maybe java applications).

You could try to use the ifstat command. With default invocation, it shows bandwidth usage periodically until you hit Control-C But you can invoke it like this:

ifstat <delay> <count>  (i.e. ifstat 1 1)

So that it will give you the bandwidth usage in one second and it's scriptable.
