How to reset or change the Git user IntelliJ is authenticating with

I'm struggling to get IntelliJ to authenticate with GitHub using the correct user. Previously, I authenticated with a different user but had to change it. Now, IntelliJ always logs in with the first user and I cannot get it to change to my new user.

I have tried resetting passwords in 'Appearance and Behaviour' and have got only the correct user in the 'Version Control' section, neither have worked.

How do you change the git credentials that IntelliJ is authenticating with?

Referencing this as the error I'm getting:

Remote: Permission to NewUser/GamesCore.git denied to OldUser. unable to access 'https://github.com/NewUser/GamesCore/': The requested URL returned error: 403

Remove or update the Credentials stored in Windows Credentials at Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Credential Manager.

Using the IdentityFile directive in ssh_config when AgentForwarding is in use

You can use the public part of a key to to specify which private key you want to use from the forwarded agent. This requires creating an extra file (the public part of the key) on any “intermediate” machines (machines to which you forward your local ssh-agent).

Arrange for the intermediate machine to have a copy of the public part of the desired key in a convenient location (e.g. ~/.ssh/some_other_key.pub).

From any machine that already has the public part of the key:
```
scp some_other_key.pub intermediate:.ssh/
```
or, on the intermediate machine:
```
ssh-add -L | grep something_unique > ~/.ssh/some_other_key.pub
```
You may want to edit the trailing “comment” part of the public key to better identify the key’s origin/owner/purpose (or attempt to hide the same).
Use the pathname to the above public key file with -i or IdentityFile.
You may also need to use IdentitiesOnly yes (in .ssh/config or -o) to keep ssh from trying to offer any additional identities from your forwarded agent.

Have you tried creating a new SSH certificate, i.e. key pair?

1 Generate default key pair:

$ ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "defaultuser@gmail.com"

Don't use this if you already have an SSH certificate.

2 Generate additional key pairs:

$ ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "seconduser@gmail.com"

3 Add non-default keys

$ ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa_seconduser
Enter passphrase for /Users/defaultuser/.ssh/id_rsa_seconduser: 
Identity added: /Users/defaultuser/.ssh/id_rsa_defaultuser  (/Users/defaultuser/.ssh/id_rsa_defaultuser)

4 Set SSH configuration file (~/.ssh/config) so SSH knows which key to be used for which server:

Host github.com
  HostName github.com
  User git
  IdentityFile /Users/XXXUser/.ssh/id_rsa

Host github-client
  HostName github.com
  User git
  IdentityFile /Users/XXXUser/.ssh/id_rsa_XXXSECONDUSER

5 Make sure in the .git/config file for the Git project associated with the second user account at Github that you are using correct host name github-client but not github.com:

[remote "origin"]
    fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
    url = git@github-client:foobarsomeuser/foobar.git
