I want to insert a jpg picture into an email without attaching it. It exists on the web, so I should be able to just link to it.
This previous question has the answer for how to do it in Outlook 2003, but there is no solution that works for Outlook 2007.
This has bugged me for years so I decided I'd find out if it's possible. I believe Outlook checks if the user name is in your Contacts, and if it is substitutes the display name of the contact. Ideally there would be a way to turn this off but there doesn't seem to be.
This question provides some difficult to use workarounds for Outlook 2003. It doesn't seem that Outlook 2007 has changed at all in this respect.

Insert New DWORD "Send Pictures With Document" (note the spaces)
With a value of 1 you’ll include the picture with the message instead of as a link. If the value is set to 0 or when the key is missing you’ll send a link.

It's been a while since I used Outlook 2007, but it being similar to 2010, You may be able to go to the Insert tab and click Picture, then Paste the URL in the filename box and click insert.
