I want to create a simple email alias for parents in my daughter's school. I thought that would be easy – just create something like parents@something.com and then be able to send emails to this single address and be sure that all people in the group receive it.
I tried creating a gmail account and then creating rules for redirecting emails, but I failed. This seems like deliberately forbidden.
How to do this?
Outlook 2013 has gotten much better about replying with the correct FROM. When you create a new e-mail address, the default FROM will be the e-mail box that is currently highlighted.
Below is an example where I can select between my work and personal e-mail address. I had to use Outlook.com for personal since our corporate firewall blocks all IMAP and POP3 (including Gmail).
Anyway, you can also change the FROM (via a drop down) any time:
The problem is the "Current View" in the Outlook ribbon. Your picture shows you are in People view. Change People view to List view and the Communicate section will expand to include an E-mail button. That E-mail button will let you compose an e-mail to any highlight people at once, with a single click. Thanks for including the pic--it made it easy to see what was going on! :)

Google Groups are good for this. People can be added directly, request to be added, and control frequency of message/email delivery themselves, or the admin can do it. The group itself can be flagged as private, public, etc etc.
