How to copy all text in edited file from PuTTY to clipboard

I want to copy all text from file that I see in PuTTY to my Windows session.
Something that in Windows would be done with Ctrl + A.

What is the equivalent in PuTTY?

What I actually have is a long text file.
In Putty I can forward to the "next page" using Ctrl + V or simply going down with the arrow rows. The limit of row that I can see is with the height of my screen. If I could to see all of them I would simply mark them and copy them.. But I can't….

Think of it like a 400 pages long of word document you simply click Ctrl + A in the document and then you can copy it all. This is what I need in PuTTY.

You can select all text in PuTTY by clicking the title bar icon and selecting "Copy all to clipboard":

This will only copy the entire scrollback buffer. If your file is longer than the scrollback buffer, you will have to increase it. This can be done under "Window"->"Lines of scrollback".

You would probably benefit from GNU screen (or the byobu variant on Ubuntu) to be able to switch between sessions. That way your other sessions keep running rather than being halted / suspended as you propose here.

Some general notes:

The format of the copy (cp) command is cp source destination
In the *nix (Unix, Linux etc) world, directories are represented by / as opposed to \ in Windows. The root of the filesystem (Windows' C:\) is /. So, the Windows path
```
C:\Directory\Subdirectory\file.txt 
```
is this on Linux
```
/Directory/Subdirectory/file.txt 
```
~/ is your home directory, also known as $HOME.
You don't need to cd to the directory you need to copy things to/from, you can just give the full path to it.
You don't need to type the entire path out. On most Linux systems, when you start typing a path, you can hit Tab to complete it. If there is more than one possible completion, hit Tab twice to see them. For example, type
```
ls /bo
```
and hit Tab, it will automatically be completed to
```
ls /boot
```

So, putting all this together, instead of writing the whole path, try writing the beginning and using Tab to autocomplete. I suspect your file is not in ~/servers but in /servers so try:

cp /servers/apac Tab

Does that autocomplete? If not, try

cp ~/servers/apac Tab

Once you find the correct source directory, use the Tab trick again to find the right destination directory.
