How to change the password for the keyring manager in Ubuntu

On Ubuntu 10.04, the Synaptic menu entry calls gksu --description /usr/share/applications/synaptic.desktop /usr/sbin/synaptic Did you enable the root user? If you did, you either want to use the root password or change the menu to gksudo or add --sudo-mode to the current menu entry.

Setting this keyring to blank should let it do its thing without bothering you. If you have already set it up, trash your keyring and restart Chrome to receive the fresh prompt (where you can set it to not use a password).

Check the following locations for the keychain:

• ~/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring
• ~/.local/share/keyrings/*
