I have a gtx 1050ti and my monitor still runs in VGA.. I just purchased HDMI-VGA active converter. It works! The problems is when I try to run games especially those in fullscreen mode. It says "Input not supported" Windowed mode games runs fine. Any help?

As per the Wiki article on DVI:
A passive DVI-to-VGA adapter. This adapter will not work with a DVI-D output. It requires a DVI-I or DVI-A output to get the analog signal to a VGA input (even if the adapter looks like a DVI-D). A more expensive active adapter (or converter) is required to connect DVI-D to VGA.
As such you would need an active adapter in either case and it shouldn't really matter whenever you get an active DVI to VGA or active HDMI to VGA adapter. They're both available in a variety of qualities.
An advantage of using DisplayPort to VGA could possibly a simpler adapter as there supposedly is some form of backwards compatibility available. At one point I read that there was actual electrical compatibility as the adapter indicates to the card that a VGA display is attached but I'm not able to remember where I read it. Hence I might be remembering it wrong or it might simply be false.
With the given information, what I can recommend is try to lower the resolution or change the refresh rate (you might be having a choice between 59 Hz and 60 Hz, one of them might just work). In order to change the refresh rate:
- Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings
- Under the external monitor, choose Display adapter properties for Display #
- Go to the Monitor tab, pick a refresh rate and press Apply
Especially with cheap HDMI to VGA adapters, it might not always be possible to run an older display at 1080p - I even had adapters of the same kind that would struggle to display a picture at 1280x1024, but 1280x960 worked. If your monitor comes with DVI or DisplayPort, try getting a from-HDMI adapter for those, as these ports are usually way better for such use (as they already convey digital signal, unlike VGA).

My guess is that when you run games it is using a resolution that is not supported by that HDMI to VGA adapter. They do have a max resolution and it is pretty low. Look at the specs on the adapter and try to find the max supported resolution.
