I am using Outlook 10 and it was opening hyperlinks in Firefox. I uninstalled Firefox and installed Chrome. From Chrome->settings I have set up it as default web browser. The problem is that now Outlook cant open any hyperlinks from outlook messages.
General failure. The URL was: Application not found.
Seems like it tries to open link in Firefox. How this can be fixed?
I tried this General Failure when opening a link in Outlook 2007 but it doesn't help
Fixed it.
Start IE from the desktop icon by right-clicking on it and start it without Add-ons. Then go in and disable any add-on (Manage Add-ons) that isn't what you would expect (i.e., leave stuff from Microsoft, Adobe enabled).
Then try opening a link from the email message. I found three add-ons that I disabled and it works. One was called "Research", one was an MSN Messenger add-on, and the other was a Disqus add-on.
This is in Windows XP. WIndows 7 is probably the same.
I solved it by installing the latest version of HTC Sync (3.3.53). Syncing contacts and calenders with Outlook works now again. The install took well over 20 minutes! Besides HTC Sync the setup also installed Adobe AIR (3.7.0) and HTC Driver Installer (4.1.0). This added even more time to the lengthy installation process. The setup removed previous version of HTC Sync. This probably added even more time to the total installation time.
This version also has the option to allow me to choose the Outlook profile/folder. Unfortunately you can't even access the options unless you connect a compatible phone and the phone is recognized. There are absolutely zero options unless you connect the phone!! This is rather ridiculous!

If I was you, I'll also remove all browsers, reset to the mighty IE and try to open links alone... if that works, then Chrome might be the issue, reinstalling it maybe.. using ccleaner to remove it thoroughly. befroe even trying the bandaid fix below
