I am looking for this Firefox extension called FirstField, but for Chrome. Essentially, you press a keyboard shortcut and it focuses the first text input field on the webpage (for example, the Wikipedia search). How difficult would it be to create this?

Many Chrome "extensions" are just Greasemonkey scripts, and these can be used with the Greasemonkey extension or compiler on Firefox with no changes.
Unfortunately, extensions that use other APIs must be ported. If you're looking to port a Chrome extension to Firefox, or planning to write one for both, take a look at Mozilla's new Jetpack extension API, which was designed to work in a manner similar to the way Chrome's extensions work, but still offer the vastly increased access to the browser the original Firefox API is known for.
Update: This does not seem to be working anymore. Press ESC to move the cursor back into Google's search box.

… just begin typing again. For example, writing "unicorns", then " magic" (that is, space, then the next keyword) will automatically focus the search box again.

Finally, you can also press ⇥ (Tab) to get a manual selection for the results – navigate through them with ↓ or ↑, and open them with ↩.

A quick search for focus on the Chrome Web Store brought up Input Focus. It looks like it will do what you want, press Ctrl+Alt+L to set focus on a page's first text field and then press the combo again to start cycling through whatever other text fields are on the page.
