There are many unofficial Windows XP ISO file in numerous of websites. So to create a Windows XP virtual machine, one has to download that ISO and make that virtual hard disk manually. Is there a way to get a pre-build official Windows XP virtual machine from official Microsoft website?

I have found a work around, but it is not very elegant: Just followed the first solution from here:
If you have access to the original host then find and copy the Virtual Machine .xml file to the local folder that contains the .exp file. (The names will be the same other than the .xml or .exp file extension.) Delete the .exp file and then try the import again, except this time select the next folder down - the one that contains the "Virtual Hard Disks" and "Virtual Machines" folder.
Also I have changed the VM folder's location from Program Files
to a private folder, since I was suspicious could be a security access problem, even apparently the both folders have the same security configuration.
Still it was not importing the virtual machine, but them I created a new virtual machine and pointed the hard disk for the .vhd
file inside the Virtual Hard Disks
folder. I still have more 14 virtual machines to import, maybe that is not the best answer, but it solved the problem.
Yes. The installation DVD/ISO needs to have SP3 slipstreamed in it. Older versions without SP3 won't install.
- You'll need to use a Gen 1 VM, the basic hardware will work fine with XP.
- Disable dynamic memory
- Home versions will not work under Hyper-V, you'll need the Pro version.
- Limit you RAM for the install to 1 to 2GB, you can increase to 4GB after the install completes
- Limit your vCPUs to 1 or 2 for the install.
Integration Components
After the installation completes, you'll need to manually install the Integration Components (IC). (Same as the answer I provided on the other post you linked) You will need to get the IC from an older version of Hyper-V. I have them on my wordpress site here: https://smudj.wordpress.com/2017/03/02/vmguest-iso-for-older-windows-oses-in-win102016/
You can also download Hyper-V server from Microsoft and extract them, if you want them from a trusted source.
The 2012R2 version of the IC should auto-install after you mount the ISO to the dvd drive and install all the necessary drivers.
Unknown Devices You will see 2 unknown devices. Per Microsoft these are expected and can be ignored for OSes earlier than Windows Server 2012 R2. (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2925727/unknown-device-vmbus-in-device-manager-in-virtual-machine-for-avma)
XP on Hyper-V is definitely achievable and generally trivial to install.
One other note, audio will require you to use RDP to connect to XP and the host system must have working audio.

Download a Windows XP Mode executable file from Microsoft's Windows XP Mode site.
Open the folder containing the executable file (e.g. WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe). Don't install it. Unzip that exe file with 7ZIP by dragging and dropping it into the 7ZIP window. Open Sources folder in 7ZIP window, extract xpm file.
It is advisable to use it after making a checkpoint in Hyper-V.
