Firefox 3.6 has just been released and I am considering upgrading. The release notes state that:
When you install Firefox 3.6 all of
your Extensions and Themes will be
disabled until Firefox 3.6 determines
that either a) they are compatible
with the Firefox 3.6 release or b)
there are newer versions available
that are compatible.
I would like to know before I upgrade which add-ons will be disabled. It seems to me like there should be some tool that could tell me this. Any ideas?
Usually it's better to wait for an updated version of an add-on, certified by the developer to work with the current release of Firefox.
However, some (or even most) add-ons work perfectly even if they've not been updated by the developer. You can skip the compatibility check by going to about:configand adding the boolean key extensions.checkCompatibility.3.6 and set it to false. This is also useful if an add-on is not actively maintained anymore.
Note this method skips the compatibility check for all the extensions installed in Firefox.
Maybe the Firefox add-on Is it compatible? will help you (it helped me). It simply adds compatibility information into the list of installed add-ons.

Before the update starts it will list any updates that you have installed that will be disabled, and give you a chance to cancel.
From within Firefox, click help->check for updates.
