In Windows7, when you open the Windows Explorer using the pinned Windows Explorer button on taskbar, it opens WE and points it to My Documents folder.
Is there a way to change this so it doesn't open My Documents, but rather "Computer" just as Windows+E keyboard shortcut does?
Just drag the link to your Documents folder to the task bar. It will show up as a link to start the Windows Explorer but you will see the Documents folder listed as one of the pinned folders in the jump list.
If you wish to force the link to open to the folder directly, you can modify the shortcut to open the folder of your choice. Just right click on the link, right click on the Windows Explorer shortcut and go to properties. Then add the path to your folder in the target. You could use %USERPROFILE%\Documents in this case.
With all Windows Explorer windows closed, hold down Shift and right-click the Windows Explorer icon that is pinned to the Taskbar. Select Properties from the menu.
On the Shortcut tab, the Target: field is probably:
%windir%\explorer.exe
Add a space and the path to the folder you want to be your default. I changed my target to
%windir%\explorer.exe "C:\Users\william\"
Quotation marks around the folder path are only necessary if the path contains a space.

Have you tried the method that used to work in XP and Vista?:

On my XP machine I have "Start in" set to "%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%" which opens Explorer in My Computer from where I can see all the drives etc.
NOTE I haven't got Windows-7 to check this, but I thought it ought to be mentioned
