Before I upgraded to Firefox 4 & IE 9, Babylon was succesfully recognizing text on those browsers. After the upgrade, it cannot recognize text anymore. I've played with the OCR Optimization in the advanced settings, but it didn't help. Babylon works well out of these browsers, though.
Is there a workaround or solution to this problem?
Note: I'm on Firefox 44 and the problem continues.
You can try resetting all of the Firefox preferences to the default settings. According to Firefox's support page:
At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button, go over to the
Helpmenu and selectRestart with Add-ons Disabled...Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog.For Windows XP, click the
Helpmenu and selectRestart with Add-ons Disabled...1: To reset your user preferences, click to put a check mark by
Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults.
2: To apply your changes, click Make Changes and Restart.
Firefox will restart with your settings changed back to the defaults.
To remove Babylon (or anything else that has taken over Google Chrome), doing the following should suffice:
Go to chrome://chrome/settings/startup and remove all related pages.
This is done by clicking the X at the right of the entry.
Go to chrome://chrome/extensions/ and remove all related extensions.
This is done by hovering over the entry and clicking the trash can icon when it appears.
Go to chrome://chrome/settings/searchEngines and select a proper default search.
This is done by hovering over the desired search engine (normally Google, at the very top of the first list) and clicking Make default.
If anything survives, you'll need a malware scanner like MBAM (easy) or HiJackThis (advanced).

UPDATE:
I haven't used Babylon since it became non-Firefox-friendly but today I tried something which worked. Here is what I did:
I have installed the latest version (Babylon 10) on my PC while Firefox window was open. As soon as the installation was completed, a page was opened in Firefox which asked me if I wanted to install "Babylon Translation Activation Tool". I clicked "Yes" and it installed that extension on Firefox. After I restarted Firefox, I tested Babylon on Firefox and it worked!
Here is a screeny of that Firefox extension. It is weird that when I search for that extension in Firefox extensions database, it cannot be found. Hope that helps.
