PostgreSQL – Fix Create Publication Not Working

I am trying to create a publication (for logical replication) in PostgreSQL database but it throws an error:

indsolv_dev=# CREATE PUBLICATION my_publication;
ERROR:  syntax error at or near "PUBLICATION"
LINE 1: CREATE PUBLICATION my_publication;

As JJanes mentioned, Publication is available from Version 10. I was using version 9.6.

You can use reserved words by quoting them:

CREATE TABLE mail_user (
   "user" char(50) NOT NULL,
   domain char(50) NOT NULL,
   password char(50) NOT NULL
);

This exact error message is in the FAQ.

You have md5 authentication configured in pg_hba.conf and trust authentication (meaning no authentication whatsoever) in pool_hba.conf.

You need to configure either trust authentication or md5 authentication in both files.
