MySQL Export – How to Export Structure and Data from MySQL 5.1.73 to 5.6.17

Are there any known issues to export structure and data from MySQL 5.1.73 to 5.6.17? Nothing fancy and to export-import user will use phpMyAdmin.

Should be binary compatible, but I would ALWAYS use mysqldump. See here (options not always optimal) and here (phpMyAdmin can't handle large dbs) for why. See here and here for how. And let's not forget the docco!

Using SQL from the mysql command-line:

SELECT * from YOURTABLE
WHERE status=0 and id>20
INTO OUTFILE 'yourtable.csv'
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
ENCLOSED BY '"'

or using mysqldump with the --where= option:

mysqldump -u youruser -p yourdbname yourtablename --where="status=0 and id>20">yourtable.sql

Using phpMyAdmin you can execute the query in the GUI & click "export" under the resultset.

I believe phpMyAdmin uses plain SELECTs and INSERTs to import and export the database.

I don't think you will be able to prevent import/export. I don't remember PhpMyAdmin having options to disable those features.
