Mongodb – Which version of linux OS has support for MongoDB installation

I would like to learn how to install MongoDB in my Windows machine. Currently I have a Windows 8 64 bit OS laptop and I installed MongoDB 64 version for Windows.

My question is: which version of linux (64 bit) supports my machine to install MongoDB.
I known Ubuntu linux only. Is it suitable for installing on my machine? Currently my machine has 64 bit version.

Thanks in advance for clarifying my doubt.

You should be able to easily install on most (if not all) flavours of x86-based Linux distributions.

You could live quiet safety with two ORACLE_HOMEs if you know:

%TNS_ADMIN% is your tnsnames.ora / listener.ora / sqlnet.ora directory for both;
in your %PATH% you should specify the right order for your preferred oracle bin;
there's a Oracle_home_selector installed somehere (I don't remember) in full client install
take a look at Windows Registry (something like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE)
pay attention to %NLS_LANG%

MySql 5.5 in ubuntu repository

There are .deb packages available. Using the ones from http://people.debian.org/~nobse/mysql-5.5/:

sudo su -
wget http://people.debian.org/~nobse/mysql-5.5/mysql-common_5.5.13-2_all.deb
wget http://people.debian.org/~nobse/mysql-5.5/mysql-server_5.5_5.5.13-2_amd64.deb

dpkg -i mysql-common_5.5.13-2_all.deb
dpkg -i mysql-server_5.5_5.5.13-2_amd64.deb

The first dpkg execution may ask for you to install dependencies. If you're installing on a 32-bit system, alter the URLs accordingly.

Latest .debs are available on http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/#downloads - Select "Debian Linux".
