Windows – Isolate Mac & Windows sharing parallels

Assuming there are no firewall issues, it may be worth double checking that you are using the correct IP address to connect to your Mac. When using Shared Networking, Parallels creates a separate sub-network that is used between Parallels and your Mac. As such, your Mac will be using a different IP address to communicate with Parallels than it will to communicate with your external/local network.

Here is an example configuration:

Mac

• Local Network IP: 192.168.1.10
• Parallels Network IP: 10.211.55.2

Parallels

• Parallels Network IP: 10.211.55.3

Network

• Parallels Default Gateway: 10.211.55.1

Because all of these IPs are non-routable, attempts to connect to your Mac using the 192.168.1.10 address will fail from Parallels. You will need to use the 10.211.55.2 address to connect to your Mac. Note that this is not the same as the Gateway address.

It is also worth pointing out that the IP address for the Parallels network is assigned via DHCP and has the potential to change. This means that you would need to change the entries in your hosts file.*

And finally, make sure that Apache is listening on the Parallels Network IP address. The default configuration should listen on all ports, but would be worth checking if you have changed the Apache configuration.

*There are instructions here to change the Parallels network adapter on the Mac to use a specific address, but this is for Tiger.

Probably your Boot Camp partition is hosed and couldn't be removed simply.

So i would try to reinstall Windows 7 with your pre-made (Microsoft's bootable USB creation tool!) thumb drive.

1. Attach the Windows 7 installer thumb drive to your Windows server, format it if necessary (FAT32) and create the bootable Win7 install thumb drive again with the Microsoft tool.

2. Download BootCamp5.1.5621 on your server

3. Extract BootCamp5.1.5621.zip

4. Copy the extracted files and folders ($WinPEDriver$, AutoUnattend.xml, BootCamp etc.) to the root of the thumb drive.

5. The file/folder structure in the root of your thumb drive should look like this:

   

6. Detach the thumb drive from your server

7. Attach the thumb drive to your Mac

8. Reboot your Mac and immediately hold the alt/option button until you see the boot menu

9. Choose your thumb drive as boot volume

10. Try to reinstall Windows 7. You might have to reformat your existing Windows partition with the disk management tool of the Windows 7 Installer (don't delete or resize it!).

If that doesn't work reboot to Mac OS X, start Boot Camp Assistant and try to remove Windows 7 completely. If the removal fails check several answers here to remove your Boot Camp partition manually:
remove-windows-7
i-messed-up-the-fusion-drive (both require a Time Machine backup)
or some other answers here.
