I made a screen recording as mentioned in this Apple's support article. Can someone let me know where are the screen recordings are saved after pressing "Done" and with what name it is saved?

Sounds like a permissions problem. If it’s a bug I suspect it will be fixed in a future macOS update. Not much help, I know.
Until then, you have to peek behind the curtain:
- Unsaved recordings are stored at
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX/Data/Library/Autosave Information/ - The file will be called
Unsaved QuickTime Player Document.qtpxcomposition, or similar Show Package Contentson that file- Inside is
Screen Recording.movwhich you can copy and keep
If you start screen recording then open the activity monitor.
You will see a process name screencapture.
Click process info botton will see more detail.
It seems like a system level functions and use intel quick sync to encode.
