Safari asks for Flash to be enabled for every website

I have gotten along quite well without Flash for a long time. But recently I had reason to install it for one particular website. Since it is installed, I figured I'd have it prompt me if another site wants Flash. But I've been asked to enable it for every website, almost all of which have worked fine without it and work fine after I say "never for this website."

I've tried FireFox on a few of those sites, with no apparent difference from before.

Should I report it as a bug? Can I put a stop to it, and if not, how do I remove Flash without breaking other things?

Go to Safari Preferences, Security tab, and click Plug-In Settings. Select Flash Player on the left, and ensure that "when visiting other websites" is set to Off, rather than Ask.

I've been trying to figure this out for a while. Here's the answer:

Chrome has a flash player built into it, and it updates automatically. Other browsers use an external flash player. If you're like me, you have flash player installed outside of chrome for other browsers. Chrome doesn't seem to handle this very on it's own, but you can disable one or the other by going "about://plugins" in chrome, expanding the details (+ details at the top right), and finding the flash section and clicking disable on one or the other.

It doesn't seem to matter too much which one you use, but turning one off dramatically improves flash performance and overall memory usage for me.

Why can’t Safari open RSS feeds

Based on the error message, I tried the following command and solved the problem:

chown -R username: ~/Library/Safari

So I guess there are some files or directories which does not belong to me. It's weird how could this happen because I never touched that directory manually before.
