I'm not able to use "Highlight" shortcut. No matter I press control+command+h or control+command+u, it results in underlining text. Clicking the "Highlight" button also underlines text. I can highlight text using highlight with specific though.
But it's quite inconvenient that I am not able to use shortcut to highlight. How could I fix it?
This seems to be a bug in Preview. There's a related thread about this topic in which many people say they are experiencing the same problem. I too have just tested it out and see the same results.
There are 2 workarounds I can think of. The 1st is to select all the annotations and set their color manually:
The 2nd workaround is to use the Python script from the same thread previously mentioned.
As you probably know the Preview does not have the short cut for that function.

Try clicking the highlight button (while not having any text highlighted) and select the highlight colour. It'll show a check mark beside the one you choose. Then unclick it and try the highlight shortcut again and it should make the default that colour highlight.
