MacOS – Terminator (Ubuntu) like app for OS X Yosemite

I'm using Ubuntu on a daily basis, and recently (6 months ago) I bought a Mac, so the first thing I did was installing VMWare and Ubuntu on my MBP.

I'm a developer and a huge fan of Terminator. With Terminator, you can open multiple file in one window, code separatly on them, and many other great things.

I thought that if it runs on Ubuntu it could possibly run on Mac OSX but it seems that it doesn't work.

Is there a Terminator-like terminal app for OS X Yosemite?

Use iTerm2. Can do most things that Terminator does.

Interesting. I have a ST9500420AS, is it the same drive? Mine is loud but I don't have any issues with it.

Does anything show up in the console during/after this occurs? /Applications/Utilities/Console.app

Also, if you can make the problem re-produceable, you could try fseventerhttp://www.fernlightning.com/doku.php?id=software:fseventer:start, or even a simple command into the terminal (lsof > ~/Desktop/open_files.txt) to figure out what might be going on.

It almost sounds like it might, might be a hardware problem rather than software, but we may as well rule out the latter first.

MacOS – iTerm2, unicode and sympy

I finally found out what the problem is. The problem was not with the terminal emulators themselves as both OSX Terminal and iTerm2 were using UTF-8 by default. It turned out one has to inform python explicitly that the terminal is capable of handling unicode by way of

export PYTHONIOENCODING=utf-8
