“Smart Zoom” is a feature of the new version of Safari in OS X Mavericks and it’s triggered with a simple double-tap on the track pad. Whilst very useful for quickly zooming in and out of websites etc, its also very easy to trigger, which is irritating.
How can one disable this in Safari ?
Its a pinch motion just like mobile safari. To activate it, make sure Pinch Open and Close is ticked in System Preferences
I found a workaround. Move Schubert's plugin file which is located in:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/PDF Browser Plugin.plugin
or
/Users/YOUR_NAME/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/PDF Browser Plugin.plugin
to
/Users/YOUR_NAME/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/YOUR_PROFILE_DIRECTORY/plugins/
If you don't have plugins directory - create it. That's all :)
For Opera users - they should move plugin file to:
Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Disabled Plug-Ins/
Firefox and Safari don't use plugins from this location, but Opera does :)

You can disable Smart Zoom by going to System Preferences → Trackpad → Scroll & Zoom and unchecking the Smart zoom gesture.
